Rain Storm Floods Smithfield Home

SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island was recently called to a home in Smithfield that had experienced severe flooding in their main living area. As you can see in the before photo, the home was severely infected with the water, making the entire area susceptible to mold growth. By extracting water vapor from the air, dehumidifiers lower the relative humidity, which in turn increases the rate of evaporation. In a water damaged structure, dehumidifiers pull in the moist, humid air and then discharge dry, warm air. The dry air acts like a sponge, absorbing moisture from wet materials. Our customer was expecting a much longer process and he was thrilled with the results.
