Warwick - How often should I clean my carpets?

2/20/2020 (Permalink)

Vacuum cleaner You should vacuum your carpets at least once a week.

Day to day you trek dirt and other debris through your Northern Rhode Island home. If you take regular care of your carpets such as spot cleaning and vacuuming, you don't have to worry too too much about professional cleanings.

Areas that don't get much traffic should be vacuumed once a week, and spot clean as necessary. When it comes to professional carpet cleaning, you should have it every year to year and a half to maintain the life of your carpet.

For areas that have normal traffic running through them (people walking through daily, children) vacuuming once or twice a week should be sufficient, and again, spot clean as necessary. Professional cleaning should be done every 6 months to 1 year.

Areas or homes with pets and children should be vacuumed 2-3 times a week. Have these areas with a little more wear and tear professionally cleaned once every 4-6 months to extend the life of the carpet.

When it comes to areas or homes that will get extremely dirty due to large families, multiple pets etc... these should be vacuumed daily. We know that not everyone has time to break out the vacuum every single day, but maybe stick to every other day. And professionals should come and clean once every 3-4 months.

To prevent any possibility of not being able to restore your carpets at all, you should follow these guidelines. It's best not to wait until you can physically see that the carpet is soiled before you get a cleaning. If you don't want to have a pro come in and clean every 3-6 months, just focus on the high traffic areas and try to maintain and clean those as best you can.

Dirt will build up over time, vacuuming is key to the proper care and maintenance of your carpets.

Just a side tip! To reduce certain areas from getting more worn down than the rest, change around your furniture to change traffic patterns, so your carpet will wear out "evenly." :)
