Preventing water damage in fall 2021.

9/1/2021 (Permalink)

As we move into the fall season, we are almost excited for apple cider, leaves changing, cool air, and sweater weather! Although fall is an amazing season, as homeowners there are some things you should check off your list before this season.

Gutters:

It has already been a pretty rainy summer, with fall around the corner and cooler weather, we are going to see more rain. As the leaves change and slowly fall off, they can clog the gutter and downspout. Remember to keep them clean this season.

Hurricane Season:

Our hurricane season runs from June to November, so we are in the midst of it. We have already been hit with a few hurricanes, so always remembering to prevent your home from damage is important.

Pipes

Pipes are something that you can easily just look over. Getting them checked and keeping an eye on them for any signs of cracks or leaks is very important. If you do catch a leak early, you'll be able to prevent further damage and any in the future.

Gaps

Seal any gaps. Gaps can be a roadway for rodents and insects. As the weather gets colder, animals like mice are trying to warm up, too, and your home looks like just the place for them if there's a way in.

By taking these simple maintenance tips, you can prevent further damage in your home! If you do experience water damage this fall, SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island is here to help!
